Disclaimer

The honest limits of what we can promise. Most of this is about handmade work behaving like handmade work, and about the few pieces here that carry a flame, a living plant or a wash care label. None of it is written to get out of putting something right.

Variation is the material, not a fault

Every piece here is made a few at a time by a person, so two of the same thing will not be identical.

  • Dye lots shift. Two cushion covers in the same shade, bought months apart, can sit a shade or two away from each other.
  • Weave, stitch length, brush strokes and lettering vary slightly from piece to piece.
  • Cotton carries slubs, wood carries grain, and terracotta and glaze carry small pits and pooling.
  • Candle tops set unevenly and soap bars are cut by hand, so weights and edges differ.

Screen colours are a guide. Real fabric varies slightly between dye lots — message us for a photo before you order.

A screen is the other half of this. Your phone, your laptop and the light in your room each change what a shade looks like, and a shade name describes the dye we use, not an exact ink value. Ask us for a photograph of the current batch in daylight before you order.

If you need two pieces to match, order them together and say so in the chat — we cut or pour them from the same batch when we know.

A torn seam, a cracked glaze, a split frame or lettering that is not what you approved is a fault, and our returns policy covers it. Natural variation, including a shade that reads differently on your screen, is not.

Photographs and descriptions

Product photographs are a guide to the piece, not a measurement of it. Styling props are there to show scale and are not part of what you receive. What is included is listed in words on the product page, and that list is what we go by.

  • Sizes are the finished measurements and can differ by a centimetre or so after washing and pressing.

Candles are a live flame

A candle is the one thing we sell that can start a fire. Please treat it that way. Following these is your responsibility once the candle is in your home.

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended, and put it out before you leave the room or go to sleep.
  • Keep it away from children, pets, curtains, paper and anything else that can catch.
  • Keep it out of a draught: a leaning flame smokes the jar and heats one side of the glass.
  • Burn it on a heat-resistant, level surface, never on a shelf directly under something.
  • Trim the wick to 5 mm before every burn. Give the first burn two hours, and never more than four hours at a stretch.
  • Stop burning when about 10 mm of wax is left. Below that the jar gets hot enough to crack.
  • Never move a candle while it is lit or while the wax is still liquid.

We cannot be responsible for damage or injury from a candle burned against these instructions. They come printed with every candle as well as being written here.

Soap and sensitive skin

Every bar lists what is in it. Our soap is a soap for washing with, and nothing we make is a medicine or a treatment for a skin condition.

  • Patch-test a new bar on the inside of your forearm and wait a day before using it on your face or on a child.
  • If you have sensitive skin, eczema or a known allergy, read the ingredient list first and ask your doctor if you are unsure.
  • Stop using it if your skin reacts, and tell us which bar it was.
  • Keep soap out of your eyes, and out of the reach of small children.

Plants once they leave us

A plant arrives alive and healthy, and then it lives in your house rather than ours. Light, water, heat and draughts decide what happens next, and none of those are things we can see or control.

  • Every planted pot comes with a care card. Follow it, especially for the first few weeks while the plant settles.
  • Some leaf drop after a move is normal and not a sign the plant is dying.
  • We replace a plant that arrives damaged or unwell — photograph it the day it reaches you and message us.
  • After that we cannot guarantee how a plant will do, and we cannot replace one that has been over-watered, under-watered or left in the sun.
  • Keep plants and soil away from children and pets. Some houseplants are toxic if chewed.

Care instructions are guidance

Cotton wants a cold machine wash, a mild detergent, no bleach, line drying in shade and a warm iron on the reverse. Every textile piece comes with that written on it, and the product page says it too.

We cannot make good on damage caused by washing a piece against its care instructions — a hot wash, bleach, a tumble dryer, a hot iron on the face of the fabric, or a harsh stain remover. The advice is given in good faith for the cloth we made; your machine and your water are beyond what we can see.

If you are not sure how to treat something, ask before you wash it rather than after.

Prices, stock and this website

  • Prices are in Pakistani rupees and can change without notice. The one that counts is the total Sofia confirms in the chat.
  • Availability changes as small batches sell out. A listing can be gone between your reading it and our reading your message.
  • We cannot promise this site is free of errors or available at every moment, though we fix what we find.
  • Links out to other sites — a courier tracking page, our Instagram — are for convenience, and what happens on them is not ours to control.

Nothing here is professional advice

We write about fabric, wax, soap, plants and looking after a home because that is what we do with our hands. It is not medical, dermatological, veterinary, horticultural, legal or financial advice, and it is not a substitute for asking someone qualified.

Nothing in this disclaimer removes a right you have under Pakistani consumer law, and nothing in it changes what our returns policy already promises: if we sent you something faulty, wrong or not as described, we put it right.

Something here not clear

Ask us anything before you order

A shade against your curtains, a size we do not list, whether something will reach your city by Friday. Sofia reads every message herself.
